Denver SNOW!!!!
Be careful what you wish for....we wished for a white Christmas!! Denver was hammered with 3 ft of snow just before we were to arrive. Luckily we caught the first flight from Calgary to Denver that made it in after the big snow!! We were amazed at how pretty all the snow was! And how lucky were we when Denver was forecast for a second big snow!! We have just gotten another 11inches and are due for another foot over the next 2 days! So what does one do with all this snow?? PLAY!!

Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve we spent in Denver. We were lucky to get on our flight after numerous had been cancelled due to the Blizzard of 2006! I attempted another Christmas picture of the girls before we dashed off to a beautiful Christmas program that Grandma and Grandpa were singing in! It was such a nice way to spend Christmas Eve!!

Gingerbread House!
The girls have been dying for the calendar to tell them it was the day to make the gingerbread house! It is one of their favorite activities on the calendar! So today was the day..and they had a ball! Most of the candy actually got on the house! Im just so grateful for those gingerbread house kits!! I remember my mom trying to make the gingerbread to the right size and we would piece them together! What a trooper! This kit...actually had the house assembled...just had to add icing and candy! Awesome!!

Picture Frustrations...
This morning the girls were all wearing their Christmas dresses and I really wanted a cute picture! Well after a zillion things going wrong trying to get ready to go..I insisted on getting a picture of all 3 of them together. Well no one co-operated, they wouldnt dare sit near each other and ..and this is what I got! Why is it so difficult to get a picture of 3 kids together..smiling and happy???? I guess we will try again next week!!

Ice Skating!!
We decided for a fun activity, we would take the girls ice skating! This is a whole new thing for them..but luckily we had done lots of rollerblading in Florida..and this is pretty much the same...except on ice! All the girls did great! Paige used the little skating learner and after an hour she had gained her confidence and was going faster and faster! Steff roared around the ice..but would get nervous when it was time to stop..so she decided slamming into the boards was a good way to stop! Emily was careful and cautious but had a ball as she gained her balance and started to glide. There was a cute little girl figure skating in the middle of the ice..and all the girls watched with wide eyes..thinking that was pretty cool! Guess I better just sign them all up for lessons!!
Ready for Basement walls....
Footings are done...basement walls are next!!
We went by and checked the progress of the house. They were busy working away on Saturday. We should get some basement walls poured this week if the weather co-operates. They are moving along quickly and are expecting to start framing in the next couple of weeks! So, they are putting the pressure on to get decisions made!! We love watching the progress and cant believe we are ahead of schedule!!

Burnt Remains...
Okay, we did a quick drive by this morning before church! The third house was spared and the Global 7 news team was at their door questioning them as we drove by. Apparently, they just moved into their home 11 days ago!! What a nice welcoming present! Wow...they were lucky! No word yet on what caused the blaze...
House Explosion in Evergreen!!
Last night I was driving home from taking our babysitter home, when I saw a huge orange glow in the sky. I immediately knew there was a fire somewhere in the vicinity of our home! I followed a zillion firetrucks, police cars and ambulances and when they all turned down our street I realized the fire was very near our home! I picked up Mike (who said he heard a Boom and felt the house shake) and we headed to check out the situation! A house 2 blocks down from ours had exploded and was engulfed in flames! Luckily the house seemed to be one that was being built. We watched in amazement and very soon after we arrived the next house caught on fire. The third house in line was a house that was lived in..we watched nervously hoping that the third house would not catch on fire! We watched for quite some time hoping the firemen would have the fire under control quickly, but we left (due to extreme cold) and the fire was not under control. We dont know yet this morning, if the third house survived. We will check it out and let you know. Watching the fire made us realize how vulnerable we are. We hear of fires all the time, but never see them or think that it can happen to us. But seeing this incredible, powerful fire so very near our home, made us realize that it so easily could have been ours. I awoke this morning, and told the girls what had happened and we quickly devised a fire plan for our family.

Paige just wanted to ride and ride and all the girls were so good to take her down with them! She would giggle and giggle! I can tell we will be doing lots more of this activity! Thanks for the fun afternoon Humphreys!!
It's December!!!

The girls are excited for today...they have the day off of school (no not a snowday..just a professional day) and dad promised to take them to get the Christmas tree today! They are so excited! We didnt have a tree in Florida so we are excited to pull out all the lights and family ornaments and trim the tree! This is always the funnest start to the Christmas Season!!!
