Cabin on Lake Blaine

For years my family and Mike's family have been enjoying the Flathead Valley in Montana. My family has met up every summer in Whitefish and Dunham's have had a place on Lake Blaine for nearly 20 years now! So needless to say this area holds many many great and happy memories for both of us! WE love coming here and never miss an opportunity. I like to call it my 'happy place'!! Im sure I share my happy place with many others as there is definately something about this area that is easy to fall in love with.
So this year was especially exciting for us because Mike and his brother Peter found a place on Lake Blaine and we took possession in June! So the summer has been busy and fun trying to get it set up! Amy and I have hit Target numerous times to attack our list..and just as we get it whittled down a new list forms but it has been fun to put it together!

There is a ton of grass for the kids to RUN and plenty of stairs so we are all getting great exercise lugging stuff up and down (just try a 30lb baby)!

The dock has been entertainment for us all summer! It is in need of desperate repair but it is on next years list. So we did what we could to make it work. The ladder was useless...but in late August we found one buried in the bushes so we grabbed it and the ladder is as good as new now! One guest fell thru the dock (luckily was not hurt) and that hole was causing concern but has since been patched. On extra wavy nights the dock is holding on by a few bolts..but with a little tightening it survived the summer!

We did not have much extra to put in the cabin so we have been scrambling trying to come up with a few essentials. Peter surprised us all by whipping up this kitchen table at the last minute! It is amazing and he has big plans for more projects. It is hard to tell from the picture but the table seats about 22 people! It is enormous!

This is the great room which is right next to the open kitchen. What I have fallen in love with is that every area of the house has an amazing view of the lake. We have had fun chasing mice, watching slugs (which Amy hates!!), killing spiders (Hallie stepped up and killed a large one for her auntie who was 'allergic') and combating wasps this summer (I wont mention the wasp sludge). The kids think it is great fun and have handled all of our new friends well. We look forward to many many visitors and memories!
